EVIL EX - Bygones

'Bygones' is the debut release of Evil Ex, aka Matt Calvert, known to some as the guitar and synth mangling third of London's genre-defying Three Trapped Tigers.

Deviating from the Tigers' IDM-influenced tempos and erratic melodies and songs structures, 'Bygones' is a different proposition with a brooding guitar-led, groove-based experimental rock template. As might be expected - not least as most tracks are powered by TTT powerhouse drummer Adam Betts - there's plenty of fire in the climaxes of 'D'Lin' and 'Bygones', and the dark avant-metal squalls of 'Cracks'. The EP also accommodates delicate, glitchy guitar vignettes in the introductory pieces to 'Bygones' and 'Mirrors'.
